UPSC CAPF 2026 Notification Vacancy Distribution Confirmed
According to the official notification, the 349 posts are distributed among the forces as follows:
- Border Security Force: 108 posts
- Central Reserve Police Force: 106 posts
- Central Industrial Security Force: 70 posts
- Sashastra Seema Bal: 53 posts
- Indo-Tibetan Border Police: 12 posts

Eligibility Conditions
The notification specifies that applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Candidates appearing in the final year of graduation may apply provisionally. However, they must produce proof of passing before the personality test stage.

Examination Structure
The selection process consists of a written examination, followed by physical and medical assessments, and a personality test.
The written examination will be conducted in two papers on July 19, 2026.
Paper I will assess General Ability and Intelligence and will carry 250 marks. This paper will be objective in nature and will include negative marking of one-third of a mark for each incorrect answer.
Paper II will evaluate General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension for 200 marks. This paper will be descriptive. Essays may be written in Hindi or English, while comprehension components must be attempted in English.
Only candidates who qualify in the written stage will proceed to the physical standards and physical efficiency tests.
Physical and Medical Standards
The notification prescribes minimum physical requirements for candidates.
For male candidates, the minimum height requirement is 165 cm. For female candidates, it is 157 cm. Chest measurement standards apply to male candidates as specified in the notification.
The Physical Efficiency Test includes a 100-metre race, an 800-metre run, long jump, and shot put for male candidates. Performance benchmarks are clearly defined in the official document.
Candidates who fail to meet physical or medical standards will not be considered for further stages.

Interview and Final Merit
Candidates clearing the physical and medical stages will be called for a personality test carrying 150 marks. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the written examination and interview.
UPSC CAPF 2026 Notification Application Procedure
Applications must be submitted online through the UPSC portal. Candidates are required to complete One-Time Registration before filling the examination form.
An application fee of ₹200 is payable by General, OBC and EWS male candidates. Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC and ST categories are exempted from payment of the fee.
The Commission has advised applicants to submit forms well before the closing date to avoid technical delays.
Pay Scale and Service Conditions
Selected candidates will be appointed as Assistant Commandants under Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix. The starting basic pay is ₹56,100 per month. Allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Transport Allowance will be applicable as per rules.
Assistant Commandants are Group A Gazetted Officers. They are responsible for operational command, personnel supervision, and security management in their respective forces. Postings may be in border areas, internal security zones, or industrial installations depending on the force allocation.
